Examining the role of the MEK/ERK pathway in umbilical cord blood stem cells shows that inhibiting this pathway reduces cell proliferation while enhancing their differentiation into red blood cells—an important finding for regenerative medicine and the treatment of blood disorders.

Interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer in Asiatic cheetah using nuclei derived from post-mortem frozen tissue in absence of cryo-protectant and in vitro matured domestic cat oocytes

Cloning of the Asiatic cheetah using interspecies somatic cell nuclear transfer (iSCNT) with frozen tissue lacking cryoprotectant and domestic cat oocytes was investigated. The results showed that the embryos developed up to the morula stage but did not reach the blastocyst stage due to genomic instability. This study represents the first scientific report of iSCNT in the Asiatic cheetah and offers a new perspective for the conservation of endangered species.
